Emotional yet hopeful…

Abuse is such an ugly topic yet when a survivor comes out stronger than before, surrounded by people who support and encourage, there couldn’t be a better testament to the human spirit. This story touches on so many emotions – from anger and ugliness to selflessness and love – and does it in a way that had me glued to every conversation, every reflection, every feeling.
Payton Walters could be the poster child for survival. The early scenes had me crying with her as she endured so much. Betrayed by those who should have protected her the most she managed to emerge healthy and strong with the help of those who truly loved her. Dylan appointed himself her champion early on but she wanted so much more from him.
“…I’ve loved you for years.”
“That’s good, because even if you didn’t I would have kept showing you reasons you should.”
At the heart of it, I liked these characters. They were young, and you could see that in some of the choices made and conversations not had, but I wanted them to work. Payton had gone through a lot and came out forever changed from her experiences. Dylan was sexy, oh my yes, but the way he loved Payton, his family, made him that much more everything.
With her words, the author invited me along for the journey, to savour and enjoy, and I did both!

Hello mixed emotions
Dylan, oh how i loved you and wanted to punch you in the face all at the same time. It took you awhile and some slip ups to finally see where you belonged but when you did, you were every girls dream. When it comes to a girl like Payton, who has been through more than one person should have to, a strong willed man like Dylan is a must!!
The story line for me was a little bit predictable, well written and kept me interested but predictable. Reading about Payton's particular situation was heartbreaking to me and at the same time makes a person appreciate a certain type of upbringing. When she finally broke free of her situation things kind of went flat line for me it just kind of dragged on between the back and forth of the relationship. I love how other characters showed back up and threw a twist into the story line (every book needs a good twist) that had to be the most appealing part in the story to me.

Enjoyed

Payton + Dylan = a happy me! This story follows Payton's hardships that she tries to overcome throughout her young adulthood. The writing is enjoyable and the story is full of twists and turns.
The romance softens the story so the harshness isn't too overwhelming.
I hope others enjoy this as much as I did!
