IT WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE… When Tom and Sheila Stanford buy Storage Locker #38, they think they’re getting a few dozen boxes of misprinted T-shirts. Not worth much money, but perfect for the orphan kids down in Mexico. The Stanfords have no idea that their newly-purchased storage unit is a clandestine staging area for a Mexican drug family. They know nothing about the 640 million dollars of drug money hidden under all those T-shirts. Now Tom and Sheila are running for their lives, fighting to stay ahead of the murderous Canton Cartel. The assassins on their trail are utterly ruthless. For them, kidnapping, torture, and murder are all part of the job. But this time, they’re not up against ordinary cops or civilians. Tom and Sheila Stanford are both retired from the United States Marine Corps. And there’s no such thing as an ex-Marine…

About the Author
Ted Nulty graduated from Coronado High School before attending Northern Arizona University, where he spent seven years attempting to earn a degree in Beer Drinking. Having never received a grade above a 'C' in High School English, his life was changed when a first year English professor actually gave him an 'A', and then lured him into creative writing. Ted is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a former Law Enforcement Officer, and a Private Security Specialist. He puts his hard-won knowledge of firearms, combat tactics, and general mayhem to good use in his novels.

CLASSIC THRILLER BY A MARINE TURNED AUTHOR
By charlie badger
Ted Nulty's fast paced, cannot put down book is great reading involving a drug cartel, military reaction when the Stanford's unsuspectingly purchase the content of a locker for charitable purposes to later discover its content includes hidden drug money. From that point forward it is a thriller in the Clancy, James Patterson, John Ramsey Miller tradition of twists, turns, the unexpected and action. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Ted unexpectedly at Bay Books in Coronado where he went to high school. Not having read his bio it was fascinating to learn his history. I started to read his book that day and could not put it down until I was finished. The Stanford's and their military friends battle with the drug cartel soldiers is, unfortunately, not too much of a stretch from reality for any town near the border. Its pace and cast of characters will keep you in the novel as soon as you start the fast pace movements it describes.

Incomparable Adrenaline Rush
By Ken Pecus
Rainbows and Butterflies... Is NOT what this action thriller is about. But when you are like me, and the majority of your interest revolves around people doing big Broadway production numbers, and your idea of drama might be whether The Vonn Trapps make it over the mountain, The Locker was certainly out of my sweet-spot. Add in the fact the last book review I did was probably a book REPORT in 8th grade, and you know something huge and impactful, compelled me to write this.

The one serious weakness I do have though, is for super heroes and anything to do with Marvel Comic productions. I'm an X-Men, Captain America et. al. aficionado. On a flight to Barcelona last summer I watched 4 X-Men movies in a row! #Junkie. I think it's mostly because I enjoy the feeling of enacting the super powers within each of us in the ULTIMATE WIN of good over evil. This is probably the central reason for my TOTAL obsession with this novel. Ted Nulty, in his jar head technical mindset, has either intentionally or inadvertently created a new 21st Century superhero (Tom Stanford) who's power resides in his brilliantly analytical mind, and superior skills training; as opposed to some external super power he was bequeathed. Of course every hero has his sidekick, and it is no different here. Except Tonto and Robin could only dream of being as feisty, intense, and all around kick-ass as Sheila Stanford - Agent 99 reborn 50 years later! Maybe the most attractive aspect of these heroes reside in their true embrace of their own humanity and those they love.

This was by far one of the fastest reads I have ever had. I average a book a week, predominantly non-fiction or trade technical, so I wasn't quite sure how I'd react to a crime thriller. Well it was near impossible for me to stop reading each night. I suspect I could have stayed up all day and night reading through, but I really enjoyed putting it down, just so I could pick it back up tomorrow. I felt from maybe about 25 pages into it, I was actually watching an action movie. Every aspect was so vivid and in HD in my mind.

Nulty's storyline made seamless transitions through dis separate scenes and never let you go too far away from any one important building block of the thriller. Personally I am a non-violent person so the systematic killings and conflict scenes could have left me in nightmares. However Nulty peppered the scenes with technical details that actually served to put a methodical blunt on the reality to the scene versus the true gore it represented. This was starkly contrasting to the majority of his writing which was (in my own terms), basic vernacular that we can all understand. It was nice not to need a dictionary to understand unnecessary words that some writers put in just to prove their literary prowess. At least that's how it worked for me. I'm sure this could be interpreted differently by a different personality. I suppose this would be where the genius of Ted Nulty's writing resides.

I truly hope that I have witnessed a new James Bond, Indiana Jones, or Wolverine being born here; and that I can look forward to several decades of re-incarnations of my new favorite action hero. Now if only Nulty will dress them in a cool X-Men outfit, all would be perfect in the world. Oh yeah, But then he probably did do that with the Dress Blues... I guess that might be the most inspiring uniform of them all!

Holy Cow! Forget Reacher!

If you like a fast paced crime novel, this is it!
The idea is clever, but Ted Nulty is a natural story teller with a huge portion of genuine experience thrown in, and I truly believe he can make any idea work. His pace and rhythm are perfect. You relate to the characters and get immersed in the story. This was a classic can't-put-it-down novel.
I'm a fan of the genre, and I cannot remember when I have been so excited about a new author. I started to read this one when I got on a plane from Salt Lake City to Newark, NJ. I was almost disappointed when we landed because I had to pause my reading. I was up way too late reading it that night and stole time at work to finish it the next day. I was hooked.
I got to this author in the most unusual I ever have. I am a pretty voracious reader when I travel, which is 2 of 4 weeks a month on average. I read about 75-100 books a year and love to discover new talent. Crime novels, SF, horror, some non fiction are my usual fodder. I usually start a new author on a recommendation, from people, reader sites, etc. This time was different.
I met the author before reading the book. Of all places, I was at a handgun training course in the Mojave desert with a buddy. I live in Wyoming and my friend had a discount ticket to this course. I went, had a great time and learned a lot, but got a great deal of help from a guy that was shooting next to us. There were two groups of about 20 people each, one line shooting at a time. There was this big guy next to us on the firing line, to my right, and he was a great shot. Fast, smooth, accurate. I was impressed and he took pity on my poor shooting and gave me a lot of useful advice. Even in an active class there is always downtime and we got to talking. Turns out he was an ex Marine, I am ex Army, and we talked about a lot of things, one topic was books. He mentioned he had written a book and it was doing pretty well. I checked it out and saw I could get it for free as a part of my Prime Unlimited deal. I grabbed it but did not start reading right away as I was in the middle of 2 other books. Damn, I wish I had started it that night!

I can tell you that Ted is the real deal. He writes from experience and I would certainly not want to have to present and fire two into his thoracic cavity. I'd have two in my chest before I cleared the holster. He is fast, accurate, deadly. And, of all things, the damn guy can REALLY write. He is guaranteed to be a star. I'll be telling people in a few years that I knew Ted Nulty when he was a brand new author, met him on a shooting range and he gave me some tips. I am sure no one will believe me, though.

There is at least one bad review about the editing. Jeez, who cares? I'm sure the next 7 will be better spell checked, but If that is my big concern in an action novel, I am reading the wrong type of book. And I am a leg, quitter, wimp that needs to get back to the anti-gun rally. What a lame complaint.

Seriously, though, read this book if you like action novels, military characters, detailed and correct descriptions of firearms and their use and behavior, and any adrenaline pumping story. If you hate guns, the military, freedom, and the second amendment go elsewhere.

As for me, I am pre-buying whatever he writes.

For Ted, Sempir Fi, as for me, if you ain't Cav, you ain't s***. :)
